:Sorry to be ''that guy'' who has to explain my own jokes, but maybe if I explained what I was going for, you'll understand why I felt it was necessary:<br/><br/>The subject in question (Patch) is involved in a massive conga-line of dramatic detritus that spans for miles, and it would easily destroy the career of literally any other journalist, just not him. His tactic for distracting people FROM these controversies involves getting on his soapbox and preaching about how the alt-right has infiltrated the furry fandom and this is a major problem. There are two reasons he does this: a) it validates the egos of the really far-left furs, and their confirmation biases and b) it serves as a distraction to the uninitiated who don't know about this guy's dirty laundry. The 'template abuse' as you put it served as a satirical meta-narrative, with how it tries to distract readers from the truth he doesn't want them to learn.
