Signing

I like how you sign unsigned things. I usually forget the name of the template so I just type a link to the user's name, but it almost seems like it'd be shorter to use it since one could forgo typing user. Do you know if there is a way to incorporate a date field into the template? I always like to add missing dates and usually dates are missing along with names, so I'd like to be able to input that in the template as a string field. ^Ty-c_al 01:09, 22 January 2012 (CET)

Using tildes would input the date I restored their sig. I check the histories and manually copy the date that it says they made the edit, I want it to display when they made the post not when I corrected it, that'd get cluttered. ^Ty-c_al 01:18, 22 January 2012 (CET)

Kittens

Hi, thanks for reverting that because you saved me some time. That said, I was technically savvy enough to do it (and filed the complaints prior to him doing that) it's just moreso a hassle. You can't just add &action=edit to the URL after all, you actually need the full script index.php?title= for that to work, and typing that out each time I want to edit kittens off a page just makes me rage a bit.

I understand the design, I'm just protesting it. It's just as powerful in the hands of vandals as it is in the hands of editors/admins. I think those of us with any clout should find other ways to deal with disruptive editors whom we are fighting with besides using kittens, which inconvenience us if we're trying to document their own on-wiki drama and put together a vandalism timeline which is good to build when some of them are trying to become editors. ^Ty-c_al 02:55, 23 January 2012 (CET)

You talk like an oldfag, why do I get the feeling you existed otherwise prior to January 17? Anyway, I don't remember whether or not I was able to edit my page, because I didn't know it had been vandalized until you left me a message about it, so I hadn't tried to edit it. Do you think I would've been unable to? Why? I don't see a record of it being locked or anything. My problem's just that editing becomes harder (have to manually type long URL I always forget) due to lack of edit/history buttons for easy reverting.

Even though we're harder to hurt with it since we know how to fix it, and it's still enough of a hassle. If new guys are really so bad that they need to be punished, I'd much rather an admin just ban their account as opposed to posting kittens in hope they'll stop (kittens doesn't stop people from continuing to vandal and be douchebags off their userspace).

Even though new vandals generally won't know how to {{Kittens}}, it's not the hardest thing in the world (Triforce is more complex and look at the guides out there to do that) so it's a very dangerous tool to be made available to people who want to disrupt ED. That's why in the long run I think it has the potential to work against us. Even barring vandals, it gets out of hands even with out own users when it's used in disputes. I have the volume cranked up since I'm watching my animu so hearing the scream is irritating even if the imagery doesn't bother me.

Another issue is, much like autoplaying videos, that data gets downloaded each and every time Kittens is on a page. It's a bandwidth-sapper, which sucks in this new age where ISPs are billing us out the ass for data. I'd rather save the portion of my usage cap by not re-enjoying Kittens every other day because some n00bs think it's fresh and entertaining to spam this years-old guroporn on people's talks still. ^Ty-c

To clarify, in my previous comment I likely misused 'bandwidth'. What I meant is total data usage per month. This is a recent thing where ISPs monitor total data downloaded/uploaded. My concern is not necessarily with the ED servers (I don't know how they get billed) but with the users browsing the site (such as myself) who are having their precious caps drained by unnecessarily viewing videos. We already have animated advertisements in the banners, which I don't mind being there because my seeing them earns ED money to continue to operate. Conversely: you're potentially giving free AdSense dollars away to whoever owns that movie, none of which is going towards supporting ED or anything otherwise useful. That's why autoplay is shit. ^Ty-c

Unsigned context

Regarding your comment at User_talk:JuniusThaddeus#Template:Unsigned, is there still a problem with the grammar? I actually had to edit it a few times until it worked right and was wondering if you were displeased with a previous version. Which part is the sentence fragment? The "too much... posts?" part? "Time's always at the end" doesn't apply, that's for standard signatures. Unsigned templates aren't signatures. Looking at it another way, I could argue "time is always right after the name" and clearly with the "too much of a retard" thing, it isn't. Hi, I saw your article. Thought you might be interested in some drama from July 2011, on the 11th, to be precise: Hero, realizing that his wiki was inferior, started copying pages from the other wiki, as evidenced by:

This lead to some confrontation with members from the other wikis (here, here or here). There is nothing about this on hero's page, since he deleted it all. Hero reacted by blocking all users opposing him, defacing their profile pages (here), and showing his complete lack of understanding in copyright.

Also, some drama on the Cobalt wiki. I'd explain, but the contents more than speaks for itself:
