Hey buddy!

Would it be possible to install this wonderful GNU mailing list server? We are conspicuously missing mailing lists for the staff and it is really hindering communications. Mailman is the best free mailing list software IMO, it's what we used on .com for like the last 5 years so I am pretty familiar with it. Let me know, thanks. Also cocks. --zaiger (talk) 03:18, 4 October 2011 (CEST)

Image Problem

my image won't show when i try to post it in a gallery

when i type in the name of the file the image doesn't appear

Since you didn't provide links, or sign your post, I'm not going to bother figuring out who you are, or when you wrote this. There was an issue with images yesterday though that I fixed. Since you didn't provide a link, I can't check that your problem was fixed, or troubleshoot it if it isn't. --Edgeworth E. Euler 19:29, 18 October 2011 (CEST)

Autoconfirmation is definitely broken

See, here. Anything that can be done to fix autoconf? Thanks 13:52, 31 October 2011 (CET)

frozen thumbnails

hi. it seems some animated GIFs have frozen thumbnails. since a user is uploading a lot of replacement (and new) images, it might be better to wait til he is done. -hipcrime 19:40, 21 November 2011 (CET)

Alright, after a bit more investigation, it is working again... there's just a few things that you have to do. You can purge an image's thumbnails by appending &action=purge to the image's page. However, the newly animated version won't show right away (and might take up to 3 hours to show up, due to cloudflare and load balancer cache). However, you can test to make sure the animated version is there and will show up in the future by going to the url of the thumbnail and appending ?foo=test to the end of the url. (test can be any random string) animated because we fooled the cache to get the most recent version vs cached non animated version --Edgeworth E. Euler 23:38, 21 November 2011 (CET)

500 SERVICE ERROR (OOPS!)

I got a 500 error trying to block the XFF for someone that has been spamming us. Go here, add 217.23.9.7/xff, and click show edits from IP to see the spammage. Then try to block it and you will get the 500. Maybe I am just doing it wrong. --zaiger (talk) 07:17, 26 November 2011 (CET)

We don't use XFF headers. The wiki sees all connections as originating directly from the IP that connects to cloud flare. If anything, XFF headers should be ignored completely. --Edgeworth E. Euler 12:21, 27 November 2011 (CET)
Upon further reading, I see what you mean, the dude is using proxies but is too stupid to use anonymous proxies, so it forwards his IP in the XFF header which CheckUser logs and picks up on. No way to block that :( you can however use a dnsbl list to globally block open proxies. [2], similar to what BOPM does on IRC. --Edgeworth E. Euler 12:32, 27 November 2011 (CET)
That might help. Sucks tho because a lot of our users want to be anonymous, but even 4chan blocks open proxies so it's not that bad I guess. We are just getting spammed a lot lately. The old Wiki at the .com address never got spammed like this, I wonder what the difference is... --zaiger (talk) 16:11, 2 December 2011 (CET)

Page 'Dalavesta' contains child pornography.

In a recent dispute on a server in the game 'World of Warcraft' multiple people circulated pornographic material of a minor engaging in acts of bestiality to incriminate the accused, Dalavesta, of these rather disgusting crimes. The pictures should be removed, as should the entire page in all reality. I can attest to the face these pictures are as I am describing them, having taken a part in the side that was incriminating her falsely.  — Preceding comment added by Regorius (talkcontribs), who is too much of a fucking retard to sign their own posts. Hey e. I would just want to know, how I can edit a wikis "powered by" image. Like how in this website, the image on the bottom is

Powered by "drama"

and I would just like to see what mediawiki link can you link me to, in order to perform an action as to editing it.

I don't want to edit this websites image. ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:45, 22 January 2012 (CET)

We edited the source of the skin at webroot/skins/MonoBook.php. You can do a quick find/replace to replace the image. --Edgeworth E. Euler 03:17, 22 January 2012 (CET)

Other users keep telling me that whenever they send a email address to me they get this error

Mail object returned error: Failed to send data [SMTP: Invalid response code received from server (code: 554, response: Message rejected: Email address is not verified.)]

I've made 3 email address's and confirmed all of them and I still get these errors when others try to send an email to me. ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 22:03, 22 January 2012 (CET)

Welcoming bot

Hey E. I came up with this idea to have a wikibot on Æ and it's reason being, is that everytime a new user joins, the bot would automatically put the {{welcome}} template on it's page. What do you think of this idea? ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:18, 25 January 2012 (CET)

I thought someone was already doing that? --Edgeworth E. Euler 02:24, 25 January 2012 (CET)
No, I think the users on Æ just do it for more recognition from other new users. I'm pretty sure there isn't a bot already doing that....or maybe I'm wrong. ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:28, 25 January 2012 (CET)
Ask Zaiger --Edgeworth E. Euler 02:30, 25 January 2012 (CET)
  • ED used to have one called MysteryBot, but as it stands, I'm quite positive there is no welcome bot. It's all users using {{welcome}}. Fuck your signature Tasmania. TylerRosenow º Ӕ talk º 02:32, 25 January 2012 (CET)
I emailed WhiteMystery yesterday to ask him for an uncompiled version of MysteryBot We always got along though so he might say yes, I don't know how he stands in the whole gay ED civil war thing tho so who knows he also might say no. He always takes weeks to answer his emails tho so I probably won't know the answer for a while, if I even get an answer. MysteryBot had many more functions than just welcoming, so it would be really great to have it. --zaiger (talk) 03:25, 25 January 2012 (CET)

Template Videoframe NOT WORKING

Hey E. It appears that the template {{Videoframe}} Isn't working properly. Everytime I use it, It just displays the videos by itself instead of playing all of the videos in one video player.

Here's what I'm talking about

I'd love for you to fix it, please. It's messing up alot of articles by taking way too much space. ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:30, 28 January 2012 (CET)

It looks fine to me... --Edgeworth E. Euler 01:55, 27 January 2012 (CET)
Yeah but there is alot of videos I have in one player in one particular page. Please, if you can fix it for me it would be great.~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:29, 28 January 2012 (CET)
I don't see anything wrong with the thing you've linked above. What page is this happening on? --Edgeworth E. Euler 02:20, 28 January 2012 (CET)
It may be a problem with my computer in general because everytime I sing out it works properly, everytime I sign in it doesn't work properly so I don't know what to say? Really... ~Tasmænia Email me!!! 02:23, 28 January 2012 (CET)
Do you have it set to an alternate language? What browser are you using? --Edgeworth E. Euler 02:25, 28 January 2012 (CET)

Sig defaults question

Do you know if it would be possible for the default signature that displays with four tildes to link to User talk pages instead of User pages? It seems like it might make communication easier. Basically some annoying people put autoplaying videos on their userpages, which is fine if they know how to custom sig and link to their talks in their sigs so we can click that, but having to load the vid just when we're clicking through to get through to the talk is annoying and just giving YouTube free money that ED doesn't get to share. I think if someone is pro enough to code autoplay they should be pro enough to link their talks in their sigs. Ty-cmeal 04:04, 23 January 2012 (CET)

  • OMG LOL TYCIOL, GET OVER YOURSELF. Sketch 04:09, 23 January 2012 (CET)
I TOTALLY RECOMMEND THIS AND AGREE. IT WOULD SAVE A LOT OF ISSUES Also, here's that annoying fucks user page DISREGARD THAT MEEP IS FUCKING AWESOME Mike the Græt (Talk) 04:12, 23 January 2012 (CET)
Meep is an annoying fuck for having that autoplaying vid and I told him as much, but Meep has a link to his talk in his sig, so I don't care. People who only link their main page make it a hassle to communicate with them. Communication is especially important with new editors. Ty-cmeal 04:24, 23 January 2012 (CET)
Probably. But its not going to happen. If the user wants to redirect their sig to their talk page, then its up to them. --Edgeworth E. Euler 04:47, 23 January 2012 (CET)
Talk pages are the most useful ways of fostering communication. You want to communicate don't you? When someone has just a plain simple page it's easy to click it and then click a 2nd time to go to their talk. But near impossible if somebody pain series'd their userpage, and a resource drain if people have autoplay movies. Tymec 14:20, 23 January 2012 (CET)

is IRC monging out?

hey E, is IRC acting this way on purpose? Whenever someone types something in #ed they are messaged by a bot telling them they're stupid and invited to a channel called #manchildren, from which they are automatically kicked upon entry. Also, no Vipper? I'm ascared. TylerRosenow º Ӕ talk º 07:23, 28 January 2012 (CET)

I see no problem myself. ~Oblique 07:51, 28 January 2012 (CET)
  • As you now know, I kickbanned the bot. It would give you an invite to a channel that autokicked you every time you typed something in #ed. If I wasn't supposed to do that, let me know... but honestly I don't see the point of inco6. TylerRosenow º Ӕ talk º 07:55, 28 January 2012 (CET)
